Wanna know what I’ve been thinking about lately?
How you’ll know when you know.
And how if you don’t know, it’s not time to make the move yet.
I don’t know about you, but I can drive myself crazy sometimes trying to decide whether I should do something or not.
This applies to all kinds of things, whether it’s something major like whether you should leave your job or something small like deciding where to go to dinner, you don’t know until you know!
But here’s the trick: TRUE KNOWING comes from the body, not the mind.
The mind will play tricks on you.
Flip flop back and forth, back and forth.
The mind loves having a problem to solve, but it’s not always the best problem solver.
It’s got too much baggage.
Too much outside noise.
Too many opinions from friends, family, social media, etc.
Another way to look at your mind is like this: Would you trust a friend’s opinion who changed their mind every second?
Probably not!
So don’t put your full faith in your mind! It’s a TOOL, but it’s not your compass.
So how do you know when you’ll know?
Via your BODY.
And how do you know when the body knows?
For me, it’s a gut instinct, intuition. A feeling that happens like a quick flash before my mind even has a chance to make sense of it.
For you, it might be a feeling in your chest.
Or a feeling in the form of an emotion that lets you know when it’s time to make the move.
Or a feeling when you speak your dilemma to someone else.
Here’s an example: you and your friend are trying to decide where to go for dinner. A couple of options are on the table — you don’t care, so you tell them they can go ahead and choose.
They make a decision, and all of a sudden, you realize you did care. Either their choice feels right or it feels wrong, and you realize you didn’t know until they helped you know.
So if you’re feeling indecisive about something? It’s either not the time for you to know yet, or it’s a sign you need to tune OUT the noise and tune INTO your body.
Try it on something small first and let me know what you think.
